Filming of Swedish series in Croatia Filming of Swedish series in Croatia

The crew of the Christmas in the Sun has been presented on Vidova gora on the island of Brač. Christmas in the Sun is a Swedish hit series followed by millions of viewers every December, which is now being filmed outside Sweden for the first time, thanks to the incentives provided by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

“We have decided to film in Croatia because of the beautiful and unique scenery which can be found here. The right locations are essential for the story and we are happy we managed to find them here. The second reason is the good reputation of Croatia when it comes to foreign productions, extraordinary production services and professional and talented workers. We have already completed half of the filming and for now all of us are immensely satisfied. Producer Ankica Jurić Tilić from Kinorama has done a great job organizing the whole set. The locations are captivating, and it is a pleasure to work with the crew“, producer Nicklas Wikström Nicastro stated.

It is interesting to mention that crews in foreign productions need to be at least 30% Croatian if they want to be eligible for incentives, while the ratio of Croatian and Swedish workers on the set of the Christmas in the Sun is twice higher in favour of our workers.
Christmas in the Sun participates in incentive measures, a program of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre specific for the fact that it guarantees a return of 20% of expenses incurred through filming in Croatia which, along with the exceptional diversity of locations on a small geographical area and competent film professionals, is the crucial factor why an increasing number of foreign productions are showing interest in filming in our country.

The filming of the series started in February on several locations on Brač and it is planned to end at the end of May on the outskirts of Zagreb.
